Clario partners with CellCarta to streamline trial tissue, sample handling

Clinical trial tech firm Clario has joined forces with CellCarta to improve the way tissue and other samples are handled during trials.

The collaboration will also encompass the digitization of the information gathered across several therapeutic areas including oncology, hepatology and gastroenterology, Clario said in a Sept. 26 press release.

CellCarta is known for its work in integrated sample management and specialized lab services. Its sample management kit provides provisioning and sample accessioning, processing, digitization and quality control. The joined-up offering will also allow the automated and secure transfer of digitized pathology images to the Clario portal, avoiding delays related to manual download and upload.

Financial terms of the deal weren’t disclosed.

“This partnership advances Clario's ability to support histopathology studies, providing our customers with full visibility for biopsy sample logistics and significantly accelerates delivery of centralized assessments for eligibility and efficacy endpoints,” Joyce Suhy, Ph.D., Clario’s executive vice president for medical imaging and specialty solutions, said in the release.

As part of its plans to reevaluate trial sector changes to generate new opportunities, Clario sold its eClinical technology to Miami-based CRO Sitero in August for an undisclosed price. The sale was described by Clario CEO Chris Fikry, M.D., at the time as “the best path forward.”
