Researchers at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and at the University of California, San Francisco, have been delving into the mechanisms by which mutations result in elevated expression of the protein called telomerase (TERT). Their study, published in Science, may lead to more personalized and better targeted cancer treatments with fewer side effects.
